One of the most popular atractions in Barcelona is certainly the L’aquarium, located in the old harbour of Barcelona. The combination of 35 tanks, 11.000 animals and 450 other species, a 80 meters long underwater tunnel, six millions litres of water and the only Ocaenariun in Europe, turn the aquarium in a unique leisure park,  visited by over 14 millions of people until now.
The aquarium was established on 8th of September 1995, and since then it is gaining more and more popularity.

A unique feature here is certainly the tunnel in the shark tank. You can go through a80 metres long glass tunnel, around which is the shark tank.  So you can discover the species very close and have the feeling that you are walking directly through the sea. But you can  find a lot in the other tanks as well. Starfishes, octopusses, seahorses, very colorful corales and fishes turn the aquarium into a really beautiful experinece, a pleasure for the senses . Furthermore, there is the experimental area Explora!. Not only the kids are invited to learn, marvel, touch and listen,  but also, along with the interesting species of fish,  there are a lot of colorful underwater plants and corals  to enjoy.
Have fun and enjoy your day!

The city of Barcelona offers many different attractions to satisfy the needs of everyone. Barcelona has the perfect combination of art, entertainment, and recreational activities. There are many galleries and museums, parks, beaches, mountains, aquariums, festivals, and architectural masterpieces.

Sagrada Familia

Barcelona owes a large part of its fame to the innovative work of Antoni Gaudi. Sagrada Familia, Barcelona´s number one tourist attraction, was constructed in 1882, but to this day is yet to be finished. What makes Sagrada Familia different from all other churches are the geometrical details, such as the figures seen on the tops of the towers. Gaudi´s unique style and use of organic shapes makes Sagrada Familia an architectural wonder. Gaudi´s other pieces of work include Parc Güell, Casa Mila and Casa Batlló.

La Rambla

La Rambla is one of Barcelona´s most popular tourist attractions. It is a pedestrian only area in the city centre. It begins near Plaza Catalunya and ends at the Christopher Columbus statue near the port. All along the strip there are cafés and restaurants, flower and souvenir shops, and street acts. The street performers are what makes La Rambla famous. They can be found all the way down the pathway, every day of the year. It is a great place to people-watch, because there is always something going on. On La Rambla there is a mosaic done by Joan Miró. One can also visit Barcelona´s La Boqueria, a massive fresh food market. It is filled with bright, fresh fruit, pieces of meat and cheese, eggs, seafood, along with restaurants that serve freshly prepared foods. Just off La Rambla, Plaza Reial is a great place to grab something to eat and drink.

Camp Nou

Even if you are not a fan of sports, you must attend an FC Barcelona home game at Camp Nou. Camp Nou can hold almost 100,000 seats, and is the 11th largest football stadium in the world. It is an amazing place to watch football due to the excitement and energy that fills the stadium. When one is walking to the stadium from the metro they are surrounded by die-hard Barça fans. If going to a game is not possible, there is a tour of the stadium which is recommended. Since tickets can be hard to find, please contact Barcelona-Home for details on how to obtain tickets.

Montjuïc

Poble Espanyol is a museum that has become a small version of Spain. It is a town that has the architectural style and culture of different locations all around Spain. The museum covers more than 40,000 square metres that contain numerous shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs which are located in the plazas and streets. Walking down the hill from Poble Espanyol offers an amazing panoramic view of the city of Barcelona. Between Plaza EspanyaMontjuïc and there is Barcelona´s Magic Fountain, a spectacular show with water, lights and music.

Tours

Barcelona offers many different ways to see the city by means of bus, bikes, and walking, all offered by different companies. All of the tours are useful to inform you about the history of the city and its main attractions. The bus tour is recommended, because it allows you to see many of the important attractions all in one day. There is also the Funicular, a cable car that takes you from Barcelona´s port up to Montjuïc. The Funicular gives a fantastic aerial view of the city.

Festivals/Fiestas

The Spanish and Catalan cultures can be characterised by their fiestas, festivals and celebrations. Throughout the year there are many different public holidays to celebrate festivals with music, fireworks, and dancing. If the opportunity arises, do not miss out on the celebrations and take part in the events that go on within the city. Barcelona is filled with excitement and new things to do and see.

Due to Barcelona´s location lying on the popular Costa Brava, the city´s beaches are located only minutes away from the city centre. When Barcelona was awarded the 1992 Olympic Games, the city completely renovated its coastline, taking part in a huge clean up campaign. Thanks to this facelift, everyone is now able to make the most of the sun, sand and surfing of Barceona´s beaches, and escape the chaos of the busy city streets. The beach provides entertainment both day and night. As night falls, the strip called Port Olímpico lights up, filling with partygoers who flock into the popular, trendy nightclubs that can be found there.

Unlike many beaches in Europe, the beaches in Barcelona have all the necessary facilities to spend the whole day at the beach including showers, bathrooms and lifeguards. In addition there are many shops, restaurants, bars, and other services. Beach-goers can enjoy swimming, surfing, volleyball, sunbathing, and a variety of other activities. The 6 beaches provide multiple options for every type of beach-goer.

The most popular and well known beach is Barceloneta, which is constantly packed with tourists and locals alike. Some of Catalonia´s finest seafood restaurants and best bars can be found in Barceloneta, providing quality food and beverages all day and night. If you seek a more tranquil and less touristy setting to enjoy the beach, go to Playa del Bogatell, which is less touched by commercialism. Playa Nova Mar Bella offers easy access for those with disabilities. A few of these beaches include ´naturalist´areas, so do not be surprised if you see some public nudity.

The summer is peak tourism season throughout Europe, and everyone has the same thing on their mind: let´s spend the day at the beach. The beaches of Barcelona can get over crowded, due to their proximity to the city. To avoid these crowds, we advise that you venture a little further outside of Barcelona. There are many other beaches to choose from within the Catalunya area, including Sitges and Casteldefells, located South of the city. The beaches are just a short train ride away, and are worth the trip as they are very beautiful. They are less crowded, but still offer the same commodities as the beaches in Barcelona. Sitges is a well known gay resort, and many nudist beaches can be found there. Another option to escape the crowds is to head North to the beaches of Badalona and Mongat, and also to the village of Caldates.
